What does this look like from start to finish?
We'll start with a quick call to talk through what you're looking for. From there I'll put together a simple contract and collect a deposit to lock things in. On shoot day, I show up and focus on capturing you. Afterward, I do some light editing and send you a private, password-protected gallery where you can download your high-res JPGs. The gallery stays open for 30 days.
What if I hate being photographed?
Honestly, that's who I work best with. My approach is documentary-style, which means I'm not posing you or telling you to smile. I'm just spending time with you and capturing what's already there. Most people forget the camera is out after a few minutes. We'll get something real either way.
Where do sessions take place?
Wherever makes sense for you. A lot of people lean toward somewhere meaningful to them: a favorite park, a neighborhood they love, somewhere that feels like home. I know Richmond well and can help you find a spot if you're not sure where to start.
Can I bring someone along?
Yes. If having someone there makes you more comfortable, bring them. It just helps if they can hang back and let us work rather than jump in.
Do I need to dress up?
Wear what you feel good in. Something you'd actually wear, not something you bought for the occasion. The photos look best when you look like yourself.
How far in advance should I book?
Weekends and evenings fill up fast, so the sooner the better. If you have a specific date in mind, reach out and I can tell you what's open.
When will I get my photos?
Usually within 10 business days, often sooner. If anything is going to push past that, I'll say so upfront.
Will my photos be shared publicly?
My default is to keep your images private. If you're open to me using them for promotion, I offer a discount in exchange. Always your call, and I'll ask before anything goes anywhere.
Do you offer prints or albums?
Not directly. Your gallery delivers high-resolution digital files you can print anywhere. I'm happy to point you toward a good local print lab if you want something on the wall.
Do you retouch or edit heavily?
No. I'll clean up a temporary blemish if you ask, but I don't slim, reshape, or airbrush. What you see in the gallery is what we captured.
What if I need to reschedule or cancel?
Reach out as soon as you can and we'll find a new date. Deposits are fully refundable if you cancel or reschedule more than 30 days before your session. Inside that window, it's handled case by case.
What if it rains?
If we're outdoors and the weather doesn't cooperate, we can move inside or reschedule. We'll figure it out before the day of.
Do you travel?
I'm based in Richmond and work mostly in and around the area, but I'm open to traveling for the right project. Reach out and we can talk through it.
